Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Ypres. The Battle of Ypres was among the first major engagements on European soil in which Canada was involved. Ypres also included the first known use of chemical warfare, chlorine gas. Despite the vicious new weapon, Canadians held steadfast, stopping German advances and earning themselves a reputation as formidable soldiers.
